If your town has a local discount program, a coupon card of sorts that lets you save money at local stores, restaurants and service businesses, then I highly recommend that you get one. Most of the time you’ll save enough money with just a couple of uses to get your purchase price out of it. The money is usually for a local charity, either a children’s school fund or even the Lion’s club.
Keeping track of the cards and coupons is the hardest part. I suppose they count on you to forget about it so it doesn’t cost them anything when you don’t use it, but your job is to carry it with you and remember to use it.
We have a discount card in our town with over 50 local businesses on it. I use it to save money at Subway, the pizza place, get car wash tokens and even cheaper car parts. I have it with me most of the time and for my regular vendors I always try to use it. It saves me money and shows that I’m supporting the card so they’ll sponsor it next year. Sure, it costs them a few dollars when I use it, but it also generates revenue on that sale that I might not otherwise have done. Everyone wins.
